Embassy of India, Riyadh celebrates the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak DevJion November 14, 2019

A grand event was organized by Embassy of India to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak DevJi on 14th November 2019. Shri Guru Nanak DevJi was the founder of Sikh religion and was the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. Guru Nanak Ji traveled far and wide, teaching people the message of one God and emphasized on universal brotherhood, love, humility, simplicity, equality and tolerance. The 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak is being celebrated with great devotion and fervor by the Government and people of India across the world.

The event started with the playing of Hon’blePrime Minister’s address at Dera Baba Nanak at the inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor. The Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H.E. Dr. Ausaf Sayeed welcomed the guests and delivered a short speech and talked about the life and contribution of Shri Guru Nanak DevJi. Ambassador also spoke about various measures taken by Government of India to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak DevJi. Two videos - one documentary on Shri Guru Nanak DevJi and other documentary on Gurbani were screened during the event, which were well appreciated by the audience.

Senior community member Shri Lowell Deep Singh Wadan also spoke about the life and message of Shri Guru Nanak DevJi.Kirtan was performed by ShriSandeep Singh Bhamra& Associates. The event concluded withorganizing of Langar. More than 200 members of the Indian community participated in the event, many of whom had travelled from the Eastern Province to attend the auspicious occasion.
